Maybe you love the design of your website, and maybe you have 1,000 people a month visiting your site. But is your website going to work and making use of your visitors?
Here are a few things you can do to make sure your website is going to work.
- Define what you want your website to do. Be conscious of your goals while developing the structure of your website.
- Make and keep contact by collecting customers email addresses. Allow them to sign up for email updates/newsletters via your website.
- Integrate social media into your website. This means if you are using twitter, use your website to let people know you tweet. See how to put your twitter feed into your website here: http://twitter.com/goodies/widgets
- Get repeat visitors by making your website more than a sales platform. Show your customers you are passionate about what you do by providing additional information as it relates to your industry. Restaurants can share a recipe, realtors can offer checklists for finding the perfect home, and pediatricians can provide references to child services in their community. The important thing is your website is of value to your customers.
- If you have a lot of information on your site, make sure it is accessible to your visitors. 100 .pdf’s listed out on a site is not accessible. 100 searchable documents allow your visitors to find exactly what they want.

- Integrate twitter into your current web presence. By adding your twitter feed to your website you are helping to strengthen your presence on twitter and your website. This simply means more people know you are tweeting and the number of people you are communicating with increases.
- Step two is simple. Give your customers a reason to read your tweets. This means you should only put out information that your customers care about. Filler information that is useless will only tell your customers that you are not worth paying attention to. So be sure you to offer incentives such as information about upcoming events, sales and other special deals that really matter to your clientele.
- Tweet consistently tweet often. If you offer a sales special everyday at the same time and your followers know to expect your tweet, you will get paid far more attention.
Let’s look how a mock example of how a business could put these steps to work and increase sales.
The mock store is Mike’s Muffins. They sell 30 types of muffins and coffee downtown Boston. They always have a morning rush, but slow down in the afternoon. Mike’s Muffins decides they were going to offer an afternoon special everyday by updating their street chalkboard, but still afternoons sales remain slow.

We have worked with a lot of design firms within the community and never found a company that was so easy to deal with. SiPepDesign was professional, on time, affordable and flexible to our needs. SiPepDesign was able to design and create web and print material quickly and they are very affordable. SiPepDesign really helped us to improve projects that we have already started.
Our business was fairly matured, however there were definite improvements that we always thought were out of reach - working with SiPepDesign I could express what I wanted to see and happen and they would work towards my goals within timeframe and in budget.
We enjoy our working relationship and more than anything else we appreciate the ease with which we are able to get what we need when we need it, done right and for the right price.
